rockstar : supernova : week four

i want to start this off by saying that this week i blogged during the performances. there are times that what i blogged nearly matched the supernova critiques. i feel so obvious! that or i've been watching this piece of cheesecake a little too long... ;-)

and if jenny's mom, friend, sibling, co-worker, fan is still reading this by any chance - i'm sorry. :-( but i think she's better off not on this show and she's better doing her own thing. i wish her the best!

lukas rossi - bittersweet symphony (the verve)
why not... he's really got a natural sense of stage presence and how to deliver a performance. and as we saw on monday's show, he's got wicked song sense too. i am starting to agree with jason newsted though, open your throat more. don't sing pretty, just sing with less gravel to get you stuck on the road.

zyara alvarez - call me (blondie)
"you're ready for intergalactic travel" - heehee. and dave navarro just said what i've been saying all along. i want her to stay so i can keep watching her - but she should have absolutely no difficulty getting quality producers, writers and players to work with her. go get'em gurl!

dana andrews - about a girl (nirvana)
this should be the theme song for a new fall show that should be called "revenge of the disturbed hillbilly". no disrespect to dana, i too am from hillbilly territory! :-) i think she nailed it tonight.

patrice pike - some remedy (black crows)
if i remember correctly, this was the girl that i thought was trying too hard with her performance the first week. since then she seems to have had lost more and more energy every week. she was pleading for remedy and really, if she'd come knocking on my door for it, i'd doubt she was really in need of anything other than a hello. what happened?

toby rand - white wedding ( billy idol)
booya? seriously? *shudder* maybe they still say that in australia.... i hate to say this, because i really like toby - but that came off a teeny tiny bit like a cover act, rather than just owning it. his voice is so strong though...

magni - heros (david bowie)
one of the best songs ever. it's pretty tough to mess this one up and thankfully magni didn't. i don't know if we need to see him on the stage with a guitar though. he moves much better without it and i think he could of translated the song just a bit better sans axe.

ryan star - i alone (live)
i liked this so much more than anything he's done for us yet - but i just can't shake the feeling that he's a stockbroker on sabbatical.

jill gioia - brown sugar (the rolling stones)
way too obvious with the sexy posturing. and her backup vocalist drowned her out in the mix. wow. i didn't think anything would drown out this woman's screetching. i used to like her a lot more than i have the past few weeks. i'm ready to see her go home.

phil ritchie - one headlight (jakob dylan)
send him home. he's WAY too full of himself, and not in any kind of way that he can back it up with any goods. i'm tired of his bobble head performances. (and apparently so are the band! lol! scary this parroting i'm doing. i'm starting to feel like a cover-reviewer)

dilanah - time after time (cyndi lauper)
pretty pretty song delivered by a somewhat scary woman. it worked. of course it did. she knows the exact right moments to allow the tension to build and where to let it out. that can't be taught.

josh logan - no rain ( blind melon)
speaking of parroting - josh just attempted to deliver a carbon copy of shannon hoon's distinctive vocals. attempted. and if you're going to do an audience sing along, please make sure the audience is actually singing along first. no no no no.

storm large - anything anything (dramarama)
i'm a storm gurl. yes i am. but i think the song sang her a little bit on this one. regardless, it was a great song to be grabbed by the neck and drug around the stage by stormy. can i see it again? :-)

in my wanderings last week i found an mp3 blog that has been including most of the tracks from the performance show. weeeee! go to the jeepney diaries and scroll down down down.....

my picks for the bottom three? patrice. josh. phil. who's going home? could be any one of them, but it may be curtains for josh. i'd say patrice, but i doubt we'll see two girls go home in a row so soon.
