gwb and the right continue with the crusade against the un... after realizing that he can't just wish it away, he seems to have stepped up the bully tactics - an extension of the famous, "if you're not with us, you're against us" statement. unfortunately, if any member nation suspends it's dues, the un is forced to scale-back or suspend many of it's peackeeping efforts. guess you can do those sorts of things when you have mucho political capital still burning a hole in your pocket....

and in canada's version of governmental school-yard bullying - lawyers for the feds have urged gomery to clear chretien and martin of any wrong-doing. *sigh* why do you just know that after months of these hearings and mountains of research and testimony that this is just going to amount to nothing. it will be corruption as always on the hill. i'm no fan of the conservatives - but the liberals have been in power too long. they've become fat and complacent and entrenched and this comfort has bred an environment where they apparently see no issue with having ties to the mafia, to supplying juicy contracts to their friends and to looking the other way...
